RIMBA – LCA Compliance Analyst
RIMBA
San Francisco Bay Area
LCA Compliance Analyst
Full-Time Bay Area / Remote 2–5 Yrs Exp

Rimba builds software that automates renewable fuel compliance. Our platform replaces the spreadsheets, manual reporting, and fragmented workflows that fuel producers currently use to manage LCFS, RFS2, Canadian CFR, and other global carbon intensity programs. We're building the compliance infrastructure for the energy transition.

We are looking to bring rigorous monitoring and automation directly into our software. This role sits at that intersection: part carbon analyst, part compliance strategist, and part product collaborator.

The Role

You'll work directly with renewable fuel producers through Carbon Intensity monitoring and compliance requirements under LCFS, RFS2, Canadian CFR, and European RED. You'll own the technical analysis, build and run LCA models, and translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable strategies.

This isn't a back-office role. You'll be client-facing, technically deep, and expected to have opinions. You'll shape how Rimba communicates value — and you'll be an early voice in how we continue to build our product. Instead of producing one-off consulting reports, you'll help encode compliance knowledge directly into software used across the renewable fuels industry.

What You'll Do
  • Lead pathway development and certification for clients across LCFS, RFS2, Canadian CFR, and EU RED.
  • Build, modify, and run LCA models (GREET and related tools) to calculate pathway carbon intensities and evaluate improvement scenarios.
  • Prepare technically rigorous, regulator-ready documentation and client-facing reports.
  • Work directly with clients to interpret results, shape compliance strategy, and identify emission reduction opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Rimba product team to inform how our software surfaces compliance insights.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing analytical quality.
What We're Looking For
  • 2–5 years in environmental consulting, renewable fuels, or energy systems analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with LCFS and/or Canadian CFR fuel certification — you've done this, not just read about it.
  • Fluency with LCA methods; GREET and/or OpenLCA experience strongly preferred.
  • You can explain a CI calculation to a regulator and a boardroom. Strong written and verbal communication is non-negotiable.
  • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • U.S. work authorization required. We're not able to sponsor visas at this time.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with biodiesel, RNG, renewable diesel, or synthetic fuel production pathways.
  • Familiarity with European RED certification schemes (e.g., ISCC, RSB) or other international renewable fuel frameworks.
  • Experience working with software tools, databases, or data pipelines in a compliance context.
Compensation & Perks
  • 10 paid company holidays + 3 weeks of flexible PTO annually.
  • Direct access to leadership and a genuine voice in how the company grows.
  • Work on problems that matter — accelerating the clean energy transition is not a tagline for us.
