You'll work at the intersection of industrial operations, networking, and software. You'll be responsible for understanding how a customer's existing systems work — from PLCs and SCADA systems to historians and plant networks — and figuring out how to reliably and securely get operational data into Rimba. This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role. You'll own integrations end-to-end: understanding the customer environment, designing the integration approach, deploying it, troubleshooting issues, and making sure it continues to run reliably.
What You'll Do
- Own customer integrations end-to-end, from initial technical discovery through deployment and ongoing reliability.
- Integrate Rimba with customer SCADA systems, PLCs, historians, databases, and other industrial data sources.
- Understand existing OT architectures and determine the best way to securely and reliably get operational data into Rimba.
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP.
- Work with industrial platforms such as Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, FactoryTalk, WinCC, PI, and similar systems.
- Troubleshoot connectivity across TCP/IP networks, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and segmented OT environments.
- Work directly with customer controls engineers, plant IT teams, operations teams, and other technical stakeholders.
- Build tools for collecting, transforming, validating, and moving industrial data.
- Use Python, SQL, APIs, and databases to connect industrial systems with Rimba.
- Diagnose issues in production and improve the reliability and maintainability of our deployments.
- Turn what you learn in the field into repeatable integration patterns that make future deployments faster and easier.
- Work closely with Rimba's engineering team to improve the product based on what you encounter in real customer environments.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, controls, SCADA, OT, system integration, industrial IoT, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with SCADA, PLCs, DCS, historians, or other industrial control systems.
- Experience with at least one industrial software platform such as Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, FactoryTalk, WinCC, PI, or similar.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, or similar.
- Good understanding of industrial networking, including TCP/IP, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and network segmentation.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial systems and integrations in real customer or plant environments.
- Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar systems and work through ambiguous technical problems.
- Ability to work directly with controls engineers, plant IT teams, operations teams, and software engineers.
- Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership — when an integration has a problem, you're comfortable driving it through to resolution.
- You do not need experience with every platform or protocol listed above. We care more about strong fundamentals and the ability to figure out unfamiliar systems.
Nice To Have
- Experience getting industrial data into databases, APIs, cloud applications, or enterprise software.
- Working knowledge of Python and/or SQL.
- Experience deploying software or edge applications inside industrial environments.
- Experience with industrial edge gateways or edge computing.
- Familiarity with time-series databases and industrial historians.
- Experience with Linux and Windows administration.
- Familiarity with OT cybersecurity and secure industrial network architectures.
- Experience with cloud platforms, Docker, or other containerized applications.
- Experience integrating multiple plants, facilities, or heterogeneous industrial systems.
- Experience in manufacturing, energy, chemicals, oil & gas, utilities, or other process industries.
Who Will Do Well In This Role
You don't need to know every technology we encounter. What matters is that you understand industrial systems deeply enough to walk into an unfamiliar customer environment, talk to the people who operate it, understand how the systems communicate and where the data lives, and figure out how to integrate it with Rimba.
You might currently be a SCADA Engineer, Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, Systems Integrator, OT Engineer, or Industrial IoT Engineer who wants to work closer to software and data.
